Posting Scores
A reminder to all members of DDGC that scores
in all forms of competition must be posted for handicap purposes. This includes non-tournament
stroke play, match play, multi-ball, or in team competition in which players have not completed
one or more holes, or when a player request to pick-up a ball when the player has determined
that they are out of competition. Incomplete holes in tournament stroke play is a
disqualification.
If 13 or more holes are played, the player must post an 18-hole score. If 7-12 holes are played, the player must post a nine-hole score. If
either case, scores for un-played holes must be recorded as par plus any handicap strokes that the
player is entitled to receive on the un-played holes. Posting scores in person immediately following
the round at the course where the round is played is the preferred way to expose scores to peer
review. This method of posting must be used whenever possible.
Golf is a game of honor
Players are expected to call penalties on themselves. The other competitors in a tournament "protect the field" by
monitoring each other in a group and, at the end, placing an attesting signature on a scorecard. In that vein, "peer
review" is the method by which players attest to the ability of those in a club, through monitoring playing
and posting of scores. These are basic principles applied to equalize the abilities of players at
different handicap levels."
