Flights and Handicaps
There will be two separate competitions taking place (at the same time) during tournament play. They are the- Tournament Competition
- Flight Competition
- Tournament Competition: Each tournament will have one overall winner. The winner will be determined by applying net scores across all participants regardless of flight. Points will be awarded for places 1st through 8th. Additional prizes/awards will also be given.
- Flight Competition: There will be two (2) flights at each stroke play tournament. Each participant will be placed in a given flight based on the index levels shown below. Players within each flight will compete against each other during that tournament. The prizes will be based on the number of players per flight. Flight ranges are stated below and may be adjusted slightly for each tournament based on number of participants.
| Flight | Index |
|---|---|
| 1 | 0 to 12.9 |
| 2 | 13.0 to above |
Points
Points will be awarded to the top 8 finishers for the Tournament Competition winners (including Match Play). Net scores across all flights will determine the point recipients for a given tournament. Points will be accumulated over the course of the season. Players that finish in the top 3 point positions will be recognized at the awards banquet at the end of the year. There will always be a single first place finisher for each tournament. Ties will be broken by going to the score card and evaluating the scores for the number 1 handicap hole. Gross (not net) scores will apply. If there is a tie on this hole, then the evaluation will move to the second handicap hole (and so on). Ties for subsequent positions (places 2nd through 8th) will stand and points will be averaged and split across all relevant players.Points will be awarded as follows:
| Finish | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | 5th | 6th | 7th | 8th |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Points | 100 | 91 | 82 | 73 | 61 | 52 | 43 | 34 |
All participants of each tournament will receive 25 participation points just by playing. This allows for a total of 125 points to be gained by placing first in a tournament.
